Birth Doula Services
I provide birth assistance for all types of births (unmedicated, birth with epidural, and c-sections) and in all settings (home, birth center, or hospital). Giving birth is a truly magical experience, but as many things in pregnancy and birth are unforeseeable, I can assure you that whatever your birth plan, I will be there to support you the entire process. As a doula, I serve the Fairfield County area and parts of Westchester County.
Pre-Labor Support
- We will meet each other and discuss the birth plan during a free consultation, around the 34th week of your pregnancy.
- We will maintain communication via e-mail and phone following the initial meeting until your birth and early postpartum. I will be available to answer any questions you have or to simply check in.
Labor and birth support
- I will be on call 24/7 during your childbearing month (two weeks before estimated due date and two weeks after), as well as a back-up assistant who you will meet.
- I am available to assist you at your home once labor starts to progress and am available to come earlier if additional support is desired.
- If you are giving birth outside your home, I will assist in the transition to the hospital or the birth center and will be by your side the entire time.
- During labor, I will help foster a calm, reassuring, and supporting setting for the optimal birth experience. Along with massage, footwork/reflexology, acupressure, breathing exercises, and suggestions of new positions/movements using yoga balls and rebozo therapy, I can arrange candles, music, or aromatherapy to help you be as comfortable and calm as possible.
- I will continuously reassure and comfort you
- Very importantly, I will ensure that your birth plan is adhered to and that your every wish is granted at the setting of your birth. (Unmedicated birth, birth with epidural, etc.)
- If desired, I can take photos of labor, birth, and the early postpartum.
Post-labor support
- I will assist you with the baby’s first feeding immediately postpartum and stay with you until you are settled.
- I will visit you at your home to review best practices for your recovery and breastfeeding.
- I will be available during the first six weeks postpartum to go over any questions or concerns and to hear about how you and your baby are doing!
